: A 27-year old yatri from Rajasthan state on Wednesday drowned while taking bath in river Lidder in Pahalgam area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
Reports reaching said that the Amarnath Yatri was washed away by gushing waters while taking a bath.
Immediately locals and police started rescue operation and later retrieved the body and removed him to Sub District Hospital Pahalgam where he was declared brought dead by the doctors, they said.
Sub Divisional Magistrate Pahalgam also confirmed the incident.
The officer identified the amaranth pilgrim as Ashish Kumar of Alwar, Rajasthan. Ashish was scheduled to visit the holy cave tomorrow, he said.
He said that after conducting all medico-legal formalities the body of the deceased has been kept in a mortuary.
